A remarkable Picasso piece valued at 120 million dollars will be the flagship artwork from the collection of former Whitney Trustee Emily Fisher Landau, to be featured at Sotheby's auction.

Pablo Picasso (1881-1973) was a renowned Spanish artist who is widely regarded as one of the most influential and innovative artists of the 20th century. He was a painter, sculptor, printmaker, ceramicist, and stage designer. Picasso is best known for his ability to work in various artistic styles and his significant contributions to modern art.

This autumn, the highly anticipated auction of the art collection amassed by the late New York philanthropist Emily Fisher Landau is set to take place. Comprising 120 artworks, the collection features pieces from prominent artists like Pablo Picasso, Ed Ruscha, Jasper Johns, Glenn Ligon, and Mark Tansey.

The auction, scheduled for November 8 and 9 at Sotheby's, is backed by a financial guarantee from the auction house and is estimated to generate over $400 million.

Among the standout items from Landau's estate is Pablo Picasso's 1932 painting "Femme à la montre," a portrait of his famous subject, Marie-Thérèse Walter. These works depicting Walter, known as Picasso's young mistress, often command top prices at auctions. Julian Dawes, Sotheby's head of Impressionist and Modern Art for the Americas, described the Picasso painting as a "definitive" work in Western art history.
